Why Yoga?

Traditionally practiced in the East, Yoga is gaining more and more popularity over the past 50 years in the Western world... and rightfully so. Yoga has been around for some 5,000 years. It is the oldest practiced tradition of both self development and self improvement. When most people think of practicing yoga what they imagine is the physical aspect, stretching and om'ing. True, this is a major component of the discipline; however, this is merely one part of what a yoga practice actually entails. Yoga is truly an integrated lifestyle practice that also includes: your way of being, ethical disciplines, and a marriage of breath and physical postures to ease the nervous and parasympathetic nervous system, and calming the mind with meditation for a more focused and intentional life.

Why would yoga benefit my body?

If you have ask anyone who has taken, even just one, yoga class how it made them feel, odds are you will get a response similar to one of this nature: they can't tell you why or how, but they can tell you how great they feel! ONE Yoga Solution's mission is to bring that "unexplainable feeling" to the world. Alas, we have that explanation.

To de-mystify it on a scientific level, the physical practice of yoga works essentially every muscle in the body creating flexibility and strength. It aids in the development of strong, healthy, bones using your own body weight in resistance training... no fancy props or machines necessary. The aging process begins when the body starts to break down. Yoga builds the body back up. If you are curious as to why you see images of Indian men well into their 90's in headstands... yoga for longevity is the answer! Yoga holds the key to unlock genetic codes.

Furthermore, there are two types of liquid tissues in the body: the blood and the lymph. As a cardio workout, yoga helps facilitate the pumping of fresh, clean, blood through your veins. It also detoxifies the body by draining the otherwise stagnant lymphatic system. Your circulatory system (the blood) has its own engine to work it around the body, your heart, making it involuntary (meaning, it's a system that works on its own). Fresh blood leaves your heart, makes its way around the body, and returns to the heart for a recycling and cleansing process. Your lymphatic system is not that lucky. Your lymphatic system is made up of nodules around the body. These nodules collect the toxins and bacteria within the body and help to ward off disease and disorder. Unless manually drained by massage or physical activity, your lymphatic system does not release these foreign invaders and disease of the body ensues. Due to yoga's total body physicality, it is one of the best options in restoring natural immunity.
